Hi all, just wondering what the part is which fits over this opening in the engine compartment. It's located beside and a little behind the passenger side headlight assembly (you can see the white connector on the back of the cover which screws out on the back of the headlight assembly next to the hole in the picture). The part was hard plastic in the shape of the hole, several inches long. I don't know its purpose or name, but a mechanic lost mine.
I'm having a bit of a hard time trying to figure it out, maybe I need to take your pic out to my car...would you be able to take some more pics from different angles? again maybe I just need to open up my hood
I'll take a wider angle picture this afternoon; the car is currently out and about. You have to remove the part in question in order to be able to shift the headlamp cover to the side when changing the HID bulb.
It's your snorkel. Hobbit removed his from his Prius entirely and he had no problems....What part is missing? 2007 Toyota Prius air box inlet cleaner intake snorkel 17751-21120 OEM 04 05 06 | eBay
It looks like the part that joins with the snorkel (the one end of the snorkel is in my image and the piece I'm missing is in ThePheonix's image; an L shaped bracket attached to a flattened ellipse tube. Just kind of sits on the opening from the snorkel.
I'm glad we could all help pretty much figure it out, I would definitely check around online and at junkyards to get one at a resonable price if you would like another one
That would be easier to do if I had a part number or name. I'll try asking my local dealer now that I have an image of the part. Appreciate the help!

Perfect and thanks! I have mine currently detached.... not by me but rather by a bumpy dirt road. (Oops?) I am not in any rush to get the car lifted up and have it reattached at the moment. My question for the room is, SHOULD I be in a hurry to put it back? Andrea in Burbank
