I let someone borrow my car a few days ago, and they said it left them stranded, with the parking brake error. She was able to get the 12v reset and be on her way . Unfortunately obviously I couldn't pull the codes, if any. No I just got out of the junkyard, to replace my blower motor fan that went out yesterday. Replaced in the parking lot, went to get in the car, and I can't move. It won't ready, it won't turn completely off The 2 year old TOYOTA 12v battery checks out fine BTW I have unplugged both batteries, to no avail. The only code that is coming up in the reader is P0300 , using Dr Prius I've got to get this thing moving! Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
that's the parking pawl on the tranny isn't it? i would still test the 12v before deeper diving, maybe she killed it.
We just load tested it 2 weeks ago I have no way to test beyond the MFD. I'm trapped in a salvage yard parking lot. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I'm thinking it's an actual issue with the pawl or interlock in general. If I move the lever into "neutral" it shows it on the display , but I can't move the car. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
What if I tried to "jump it" at least hook up another battery to it with some cables, so I know it was for sure getting 12+ volts Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I just hooked up another battery also, and it was reading 12.9 V with both batteries. No change - still park lock mechanism. Where is the park motor located? How hard is it to fix or bypass? Am I stuck/stranded? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
With the car in neutral, it won't move...as though PARK were engaged Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
somewhere on the side of the tranny, but i have heard that access while it is in the car is difficult. have you checked all the fuses? the dome fuse prohibits starting.
I said, I'm kinda stranded right now, and I have to work in a few hours. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I love sleep deprivation. Guess what I didn't plug back in and reattach, after replacing the blower motor? And guess what my friend was beating up on the other day to get the blower to work? If you guessed "transmission control module "you win , and I'm a moron. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I just took a step back, calm down, retraced everything that happened Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Great work! I had a friend text me this evening saying that they couldn't get their '06 Toyota pickup started. Plenty of battery with the starter cranking the engine just fine. I started asking questions and uncovered that he just had keys made at Home Depot. Drum roll... the duplicate keys didn't have the immobilizer chip. Of course it was cranking over but not starting... He was happy when it turned out to be so easy to fix.
