Car just beeps when put in drive, not engaging, ANY SUGGESTIONS?

    Update on hybrid battery. 2 more shops told me it was the big battery so I ordered a reconditioned one from hometown hybrids. It arrived today and my son put it in. Before putting everything back we tested it. Upon starting the car we had a full battery & everything seemed to be working hntil we put it in drive it started beeping and would not engage. We double checked all the connections, still no drive. Any suggestions?

    Did you ensure the safety interlock was pressed down to lock it in and engage? (3rd step below)

    And if you haven't already, it might be necessary to disconnect the 12 V battery for a few minutes to reset fault codes and get a fresh "start".

    I'd give "Hometown Hybrids" a call. Since they evidently sell reconditioned Hybrid Batteries for buyer install, it's quite likely they have seen this situation before.

    I was unaware of the pressing twice on power button and disconnecting the battery to refresh system. Thanks to all of you for helpful suggestions. I would be floundering otherwise or going broke at the shops.... I let you know how I fair....

    UPDATE: to all that responded so quickly and nicely, it was the orange plug. We put it in and lifted it, but did not push down to lock it in. Once we did that all the lights went out and it engages. The big triangle is still there though. Not sure how to get rid of it, I don't like it!!! Now if I can get my peer purrs to work I'll be a happy camper (and yes I have checked every fuse I can find (under the dash & good and on the outlets themselves) I guess i have to start checking the wiring?

    If you didn't disconnect the 12 V after you put the orange safety disconnect plug, then the red triangle (master caution warning light – MCWL), then it may just be signalling that. Disconnect the 12 V battery for a few seconds then reconnect. You will need to push the start button twice, reset the driver's door auto up, reset the radio preset and you will loose any Trip A/B data as well as the MPG/miles data on the MFD Consumption screen. But that is the price you pay to clear the DTC the way.

    If, after you do this (or you already did the 12 V disconnect after correctly inserting the orange safety disconnect plug), and any lights come on, then you should get the codes scanned to see wha the car is telling you.

    [Edit]: The easiest way to quickly disconnect the 12 V, is to remove the (+ve) plug indicated in the attached image. Locate the 12 V battery in the RR corner of the car and it should be clear when you see the battery. This image is take from the viewpoint of behind the rear seat looking towards the rear of the car
