Amazon has the silver back key for $165 and can include programming for another $85.00 making it $250. Is this a good way to go?
Another Toyota dealer that sells parts online has it for $145 (plus <$10 shipping), but Amazon would be two-day shipping. McGeorge Online Parts I ordered my Gen 3 key from them (and a few other parts), they ship next business day and verify your order by VIN . As long as you have one fully functioning key, you can do the "Chicken Dance" How to Program a New Key Fob for Full SKS Functionality to program the new key yourself. (*one small warning about the "Chicken Dance". I had a 2004, bought used from the City of Miami, they had lost keys so many times, all five "slots" were used and I needed TechStream anyway to erase all previous keys before I could add my new ones.) I also might ask my local Toyota dealer if they would "price match"
I just clicked the Amazon link. Did you notice that the $165 was for a NEW fob from Daytona Toyota, but when you click on "with installation" it changes to a USED fob from "Key Fob Inc"? My 04 was non-SKS, so I purchased 2 used fobs for it from an eBay seller (not KFInc)--one was in pristine condition, the other was obviously used, but fine (but still worn a bit.) Just food for thought. Also, does the $85 include cutting the manual key?
