Hi All, The Gen 2's used to have a storage button under the dash that was used to disable the key fob search function (I think). I can't find anything analogous on the Prius v. The car is going to sit in our garage for 6-8 weeks and I'm wondering what you folks do. thx Frank
Ensure the 12 volt battery's in good condition at the outset, then disconnect and isolate the negative cable.
That system automatically shuts itself off in the current models. But if your 12v batt is more than 3-4 years old you might want to leave it on a battery tender that keeps it charged.
@Frank06 what's your parking situation? If it's secure, in a garage, and you have a smart charger, something that can be left on indefinitely, that's likely the way to go. If you're outside or on the street, again: just ensure the battery's in good shape, then disconnect the negative cable. It wouldn't hurt to bring the tire pressures up to max sidewall too.
On my 2012 Liftback, this can be done from the MFD screen, a path that was not available on my 2010. If your 'v' has a similar version of MFD, you may be able to do it there too. With foot off brake, press POWER twice. (One press is not enough to enable the needed soft button.) Then press SETUP (hard button), then VEHICLE (soft button), and the smart key setting is at the botton of the first page of customization choices.
Sorry for late reply! I have the older version of this: Schumacher 100 amp Battery Charger - Walmart.com It is 75A/20A/6-2A. I leave the hood open in the garage and attach it to the jump points. Then I set it to 6-2A setting for AGM. Your battery will be fine. (Hopefully you meant a secure/personal garage).
