Hello, I don't know too much about Toyota's. I'm in the military and am planning on buying a used 2012 Toyota Prius, from a family friends used car dealership. I've checked on Toyota's website for any missing Recalls/TSBs the car might have, it came up good. I've also taken a look at the Car Fax and AutoCheck report on it, everything seems alright. I was planning to test drive it and if nothing seems out of the norm, take it over to the Toyota Dealership down the street, and get a Pre-Purchase inspection. And also have them make sure the recalls/TSBs have been done. Other than all of this, is there anything else I could/should do? Or is this about cover it, as far as trying to make sure I know I'll be buying a good used Prius?
welcome! how many miles on her? gen 3 can get sketchy around 100k. there is a defect in the egr which requires early attention. oil catch can: see @danlatu 's thread. all the best!
I have a Gen 3 that I bought used when it had 19k miles on it and a year old. eight years later, I now have 115k miles and aside from a wheel bearing replacement in both rears and of course the usual maintenance stuff, the car has been bullet proof.
Suggested earlier in another thread. If we say it enough, the word will get out. Nice new avatar BTW.
Very optimistic, some of us wake up after a nightmare thinking if I don’t clean the EGR, I’ll be dead on road one day.
