When starting in the morning my instrument panel lights up but the engine doesn’t start. I take foot off brake, push start stop button. Lights turn off. Then I restart with success. Any idea what’s up. I have original 22 volt battery 8 years old.
I've experienced this when reconnecting all the car's batteries back up again... About 1/2 the time something doesn't go right and I have to start the car twice to get the dash lights to clear. All that aside, not sure what you mean "the engine doesn't start." It's not suppose to start when you turn the car on. If you push on the gas pedal the engine will start. Or if the engine is cold after a few seconds the computer will notice its cold and the engine will start for the purposes of warming up.
Right!, what you should be looking for is the READY light. That being said, 8 years is old (but not necessarily fatal) for a car battery. If you don't drive a lot, or only short trips, the 12v may have become weak, would probably be a good idea to get it checked (Dealer or Auto Parts store) or, just check the voltage at the battery in the morning BEFORE you turn the car on. If you have a charger that has an "AGM" setting, wouldn't hurt to charge it up.
By engine not starting I mean that all dash lights stay on and car won’t engage. I have to push start stop button to turn of dash warning lights and restart car.
When you get in the car and press on the brake pedal, does the light on the Start button go from amber to green?
It takes about two minutes to check the 12V battery with a cheap multi meter. If it lasted 8 years, you got your money's worth and then some.
