2005 Prius. So my coolant strorage pump was leaking coolant. I replaced it with a new dorman unit. Pump will still not run. I need help identifing the pins to jump at the relay and where the fuse for the relay is located.
Pretty sure this is what you're looking for : https://share.qclt.com/%E4%B8%B0%E7%94%B0%E6%99%AE%E7%91%9E%E6%96%AF%E5%8E%9F%E5%8E%82%E8%8B%B1%E6%96%87%E6%89%8B%E5%86%8Cpdf%E6%A0%BC%E5%BC%8F/Prius%20Service%20Manuals%202004/%E4%BF%AE%E7%90%86%E6%89%8B%E5%86%8C/04pruisr/05/2054m/cip2601.pdf
Swapped the fuse with highbeam fuse. I think pump is running. I would like to bleed the system since I had a leak. Which pins do I jump to run the pump.
Though @TMR-JWAP already answered this in your other thread. In the past I've power cycled the vehicle off, listened for the 'Coolant Heat Storage' pump to turn on and eventually stop (seconds later), then power the vehicle back on, rinse and repeat until satisfied.
So the pump runs when I jump the relay. But the pump doesn't operate during normal circumstances. I swapped the coolant pump relay with the heater relay thinking the relay was bad. But pump is still not running at all. Kinda stumped.
Are there any thrown DTCs? Do you have a copy of techstream which will allow you to view the freeze frame data? Without knowing more, I would start from the beginning of the above posted PDF and follow as much of the workup as possible. Including checking and testing the relay, the connectors and the CHS coolant tank outlet temperature sensor.
I have no techstream data. So I reset the p2601 code after changing the pump Friday. The system is not ready yet, "insufficient temperature". Could the cooling system need to be filled and bled for temperature to register. I'll try test the temp sensor.
If there's a air pocket on the sensor that would affect the reading. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I don't know if the 3way valve is opening. Ran the car with heat on, burping the hoses and cycling the storage pump. There is still air in the system but its slow going. Temp is around 150°. Is the a bleed valve to open to make this quicker?
There is a bleed valve on the drivers side of the radiator at the top. You’ll need an Allen key to open it, but it’s there and you can see the hole to get the Allen key in once you remove the black plastic shroud on the radiator. Good luck and keep us posted .
Just fluid came out of the bleed valve. Took it for a spin to check temps. Got up to 195° under load down to 180° cruising. Going to see if more air will bleed out Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Obd is still saying"insufficient temperature". Running in open loop. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Any trick to opening the 3way valve? I'm stumped why is there insufficient temperature? After the drive, coolant in the top hose and radiator cap were warm but not hot. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
How many miles do you have on this vehicle? A couple of forum members found blocked coolant systems from prior neglect or wrong fluid replacement, might be something to consider. Do you have a code reader that is Toyota Hybrid compatible? Did you have a chance to check the CHS temp sensor or run through the workup contained in the above PDF ??
