How could I install a NAVI head unit in my 2008 Prius? Few days ago i test drove a Touring and kind of liked the display showing the map. I only want it for the map showing me where on the map I am. I will never use it to actually guide me. I have a phone navigation and a Garmin and also pigeon gps so pretty much I want the navigation unit for look only. I dont care how bad it is My prius has the steering wheel buttons ready for NAV and also I have a Bluetooth and JBL and I believe Serious SM antenna installed ...if that matters What exactly is necessary for the swap? I believe antenna At Least? And the head unit? Thanks
The upgrade will be difficult and expensive and the maps will be outdated... But find an old android tablet and get it professionally mounted and then maps will stay updated, as well as traffic updates too...
Thanks for the advice. For the expensiveness i do not really care as is not as expensive when you have the display unit with the device under the front driver seats and could source all parts easy. I need to know where is the antenna and how to wire it up. I found links here but nothing exact how it's done. For the android tablet option. Would be worthless as I do not need navigation to follow it. I am chauffeur in Chicago and even maps from 1980 would be probably 75% accurate so that will do. Also any non stock device isnt option for me. No traffic updates needed.
