Since 2011 my Navigation system worked fine. Lately though it has started saying "No DVD found. Please insert a map dvd". Sometimes it will go into dvd check and show the map again. But it keeps going into that error mode and staying there and not showing the map. I removed the disk twice and wiped it softly. Sometimes that temporarily works but always goes back to the error. Anyone know what is going on?
maybe something came unplugged. try disconnecting the 12v negative for 15 minutes and see if it reboots.
the battery is in the hatch on the right rear corner. there is a triangular piece of flooring in the fender that lifts up, and the battery is underneath. the black cable is negative
I have not experienced this problem with the unit on our Gen 2 car, but I think it is likely that given the location of the DVD player under the driver seat, it could be susceptible to collecting dust, etc. in its innards, to the point where the lens might need cleaning. I have a CD/DVD lens cleaning kit that is really just a blank CD with small brushes embedded on the underside. I have used it on several occasions to clean the drives on my computer, just for the purpose of establishing that the reason my drive wasn't reading a disk was that the disk itself was damaged rather than the drive unit. I don't know how common it is for the lens to get dust on it, but I would say trying something like that on your unit might be worth a shot.
2010/11 map DVD isn't under the seat like Gen 2, it's right behind the map screen. But yeah, what's to lose by trying a cleaner disc? -Chap
