Was it efficient No Make/Model/Year 2015 Ford F150, 21 MPG average Why you bought it at the time. Need for a truck to move one home contents to our retirement home in Maine. It served its purpose well. Did you trade it in. Yes, and got a great trade in value. Was surprised because every other vehicle here is a truck. There must be demand for used trucks. Were you considering the new year of the same model. No, now being retired I no longer have need for a truck and most of my driving now is close to home. I have the Prime for a month now and still have not added gas. Local driving in EV mode works for me. Will be taking a drive soon to Northern Maine and will get to see how it handles the 400 mile one way trip.
Was it efficient - not really, 32-35, so not horrible Make/Model/Year - 2014? Subaru crosstrek Why you bought it at the time. - got stuck in the snow 3 times the year before (was driving a Hyundai sonata hybrid), also had some plans for car camping in kind of remote areas. after I bought it I think it snowed once in 4 years and while I tried car camping I ended up not liking it. Did you trade it in - yes Were you considering the new year of the same model - No, good car just didn't suit my needs. After seeing some videos of a Hyundai plugin ionic I got really interested in plugin hybrids. Would likely have ended up with the ionic except they were impossible to get. Only ones I could find were in california (2k miles away), there were 12? or so I could find with the package I wanted, the next time I looked there were none. That's when I started looking at other choices like the Prime. I'm happy with the Prime
Was it efficient: Yes, ~40 mpg Make/Model/Year: 2011 Lexus CT200H Why you bought it at the time: Doubled my mpg on average and like the design better than the Prius at that time. Did you trade it in: No, sold it privately Were you considering the new year of the same model: No, Lexus discontinued CT200H and didn't offer a plug-in that I wanted.
Was it efficient? Yes, definitively, I averaged 56 mpg Make/Model/Year? 2016 Prius Why you bought it at the time? The prius before it got totaled by a hail storm Did you trade it in? No, it was totaled Were you considering the new year of the same model? No, I had my heart set on a Prime
Was it efficient: Yes, around 34 mpg Make/Model/Year: 2011 Honda Fit Why you bought it at the time: Totaled due to accident Did you trade it in: No, it was totaled Were you considering the new year of the same model: Yes. But with all the incentives of Prime, the price came down to almost the same as 2018 Honda Fit. The mpg of Prime is way better than the Fit.
Was it efficient?: Yes (56 MPG average) Make/Model/Year: 2016 Toyota Prius Two Why I bought it: Better fuel economy, cheaper to drive on electric and much better looking and more features Were you considering the new year of the same model: No, pretty much narrowed it down to what I wanted and where I was getting it.
Was it efficient? 35 mpg Make/Model/Year - 2003 Honda Accord Coupe 5-Speed (187k miles) Why you bought it at the time. 15 year itch (previous car was an '88 Integra) Did you trade it in - Sold to my nephew Were you considering the new year of the same model - Pondered Honda Insight and Clarity, but wanted something electric and liked the Prime more than the Clarity.
Was it efficient? No... 18 mpg Make/Model/Year - 2016 Chevy Colorado Why you bought it at the time. I bought it to use for my second business and to commute to work Did you trade it in - Nope... still own it. I love that truck. Were you considering the new year of the same model - No because I recently changed jobs and needed something with great mileage as I now drive over 70-100 miles a day. I actually purchased the Prime as I got it cheaper (after all rebates and tax credits) than a Corolla or Fit cost.
