Over the past week, and during the same tank of gas, the Reset function on the Consumption screen has been spontaneously executing, sometimes several times per second. It has been happening more frequently the past three days, often when i hit a bump but not always, usually during the first 10-20 minutes of operation. No debris is near that part of the screen (i have cleaned the screen twice, to no avail) and nothing is near that corner touching the screen. I just hear the beep as i'm driving along; i lost track of how many miles i've gone on this tankful. Another thing i've noticed when the Reset button is going off, is that other functional areas of the screen--in different functions, such as the Audio screen--will be difficult to press or unresponsive. Anybody have any ideas why this is happening?

The screen works by pressing together to transparent but conductive thin films of plastic that are normally a few thousandths of an inch apart. kevin

With such a new car, they've got to replace it for you.
Never heard of this failure before. Could be the screen itself is going bad. Sounds like time for a new MFD.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(kevin17 @ Aug 15 2006, 03:28 PM) </div> i squirt a drop or two of Windex on a soft cloth. This began happening before i ever cleaned the screen (i've had the car about 7 months.) Never got any part of the dashboard wet. That shouldn't interfere with the conductive layer, should it? What do you use? <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(eagle33199 @ Aug 15 2006, 03:29 PM) </div> I neglected to mention i'm taking it in to the dealer Friday -- their SW tech will check it. And you're right: it's an '06 with Pkg #6; i've had it 7-1/2 months (got it New Year's Day.) Thanks for the insight--if you don't mind, i'm including your comment (without, of course, any identifying info) in my description that i will give the PriusTech.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(tumbleweed @ Aug 15 2006, 03:29 PM) </div> FWIW - dealer readily agreed to order new MFD, so we'll see in a week or so whether that eliminates this glitch. I'll let y'all know if replacing the MFD does *not* eliminate the glitch... Thanks again for your help.
