I'm in dying need of some help here! I have gotten everything hooked up well and working, even reverse OEM camera is working without a hitch. The only issue I have is the volume is super low, so low that it needs to be raised up, and when its raised above 30, sounds will pop/crackle. (like an old radio) I'm currently 4 hours away from home, but i took everything apart and inspected my connections. my soldering seems alright and heatshrink is holding up just fine. The part that kinda throws me off here is the TO2 harness has a white and grey rca jack on it. In order for me to get any sound of of my speakers, i had to plug these into the Front right and Left audio outs on the NEX. The NEX was setup as a standard configuration and not network; but maybe this is the issue, the Front left and Right are on the network av plug on the pioneer. is that the issue?? Has anyone else done this? I stopped by an audio shop, and they said everything seems pretty good, suggested testing out the original head unit to make sure the speakers aren't the issue.
I'm not familiar with type of gear you're using, but it sounds like you're using a pre-amp signal that's not amplified. Typically RCA plugs are for pre-amp output from the deck into pre-amp input to the amp then you run brand new heavy duty speaker cables (not RCA) from the amp directly to the speakers. If you have other control boxes I'm pretty sure they should all be wired into the pre-amp circuit (including relay wire that turns amp on) not the final amplified circuit to the speakers. Hope that helps...
figured it out! the pioneer software settings for the OEM AMP Gain go higher than 50... lol set it at 80 or so, and everything sounds perfect! My mistake.. lol i thought the OEM amp gain stopped at 50.
