Ok guys I'm am currently shopping for a new set of LOW cost LRR tires for my 2010, my current tires (Goodyear assurance ALL season) are 50% worn and I picked up a nail in one so they are in need of replacement. I am looking buy a set in the next day or two. I have read the comments here as well as searching other posts on this site. I have a tire store that have replaced all my tires for 30 years and they will order them in or I will supply them, either way. I am looking for recommendations on LOW cost replacements from people with actual hands on examples. The Hankook Kinergy H737 for around $250 shipped looks to be a good buy, and they claim to be a LRR tire of sorts, TIA.
Some questions as to what “low cost” means: Are looking at just the purchase price? What tread wear qualifies? Are you looking also at tread wear warranty? What source will you buy from? When do the tires need to be bought? We have Bridgestone turanza serenities on our 2010 that I had installed at Costco at 120 k miles. This was $350 or so all in for a set of four when they were running a promo for Bridgestones. Now with 73k miles on these tires, they are still around 6-7/32 nds left and the tread warranty was for 80 k miles. I will easily exceed that. So I feel that was a great purchase and the tires are quiet and we’ve gotten good life out of them. One real life example.
Thank you. I should point out and I should have been a little clearer in my original post. I am wanting a Low or lower cost LRR tire or at least some that offer better gas mileage than a basic "standard" tire. As of now after some research I am going to ask my tire guy about the Hankook's tomorrow. If I need to order them, it is not a problem as I have 2 other Prius.
I’m getting 50-51 mpg displayed on the turanza serenities where I got around 51 with the stock ecopias. And the turanza tires have lasted 20k miles longer at this point. A lot of factors to take in where total cost of ownership should be the end game.
Goodyear Integrities are the original LRR tire, Walland clears them out almost every year for $50 a pop Have you checked what is on your local Walmart’s tire clearance rack? I just bought a pair of Continental True contact ecoplus 17” tires for $50 each at my local Wallland Right now is when they clear out all season tires Also depending on where you live this site can help Products for “Tire” – BrickSeek It’s useless in Wisconsin but maybe in your area it could work
