When I went to disconnect the battery on my 2015 Prius Four prior to installing the fog lights I found a yellow plastic (Vinyl?) thing, and I can't find where it belongs. I don't see it in any of the online videos about changing the 12V battery. I'm not allowed to post links to the pictures I took. It's rectangular with a cutout on one edge and has a circular hollow protrusion. What is this, and where does it belong? An insulator of some kind?
Yeh, that's mine, it's some kind of SpongeBob thing the kids like. Can you stick it back down there? It should pop back up in my car where it belongs and I'll get it Saturday. Thanks!!
Maybe I've made enough posts now: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1zEN7OSTyqVJPoFtEUzinfECcpJlhuYcJqA https://drive.google.com/open?id=13sOPOEUp0g9PbPmeClOoGjv9XiVObB5MWA
The space the 12 volt battery lives in is pretty small. On the positive (?) side of the battery there should be a red(?) safety cap that makes it impossible (well mostly impossible) for that terminal to short out against anything else. If you hold this over the + terminal, could that have been the no-short safety cover? I have a vague recollection there was a second wire running to that terminal that extended its exposed metallic length sideways a bit and that it was covered and the cover was a &&^! to remove.
There's a red hard plastic cover over the +ve terminal, but I don't see any place that this yelyow part could go. Maybe it doesn't belong to the car at all and simply fell off something else.
it does look like a post cover, maybe comes with the car and dealer removes it to connect the battery
