I have been toying with idea of selling my C but I looking at the 15-25 MPG hit really makes me double think it. that plus spending about $25 a month on gas makes better cent$ than something which could double that. I believe gas will not stay hovering around or just under $2 for the near future.
yeah was looking at Mazda CX3, Honda HR-V, Toyota CH-R and the one rally catching my eye is Hyundai Kona. the reason for these is they are smallish and it is just me, also no reason to trade the C in on another car/small car, say the Honda Fit et al another part of the reason for selling is I like to not use AC until it is hot 95°F and up but know it is not good for traction battery, I like heat and hate cold (<55°F). the way my luck runs I know "if" I trade it, gas will jump to $4 a gallon and stay there.
So why not just a newer c? I get what you're saying about the heat vs. the battery, but maybe if you turn that one in and start heating up another one it won't totally wreck either one before somebody else can take a turn. I'd agree though, the Kona is worth a look & drive.
I've never seen anything from Toyota saying that. It does sound plausible, and it's regularly stated here, for what it's worth. When I had a ScanGauge connected, after a good drive and sitting in direct sun for about 1/2 hour, got going, and saw battery temp around 40C. I turned on the AC, set fairly cool, drove about 20 minutes and that temperature dropped: about one degree centigrade.
what I meant was 95°F, lower windows and drive off, not turning on AC at all. my scan gauge shows battery temp about 105°F
I'm at 115k miles. I very rarely use AC and live in Ga. During the summers, I roll with the windows down. I'm sure my battery will die soon... I know I'm lucky, shoot, I'm still on the original 12v.
I know what you mean...I like our Hyundai Sonata Limited ( our 'sporty' car...ok don't laugh ) but it is tough to go back to a non-hybrid after expecting 45+ MPG. BTW - I do like the looks of the 2018-2019 Prius C...the exterior accents they added do go a long way to make it look more 'sporty'....for lack of a better word.
I've been secretly lusting after Mercedes G-class, but I think I'd have a nervous breakdown if I calculated the mpg.
If you do upgrade quote me a price on your current C. Looks like a sweet ride! Not sure the window tint would be legal here though.
Looks to me like you are infected with the SUV bug. I think it is a disease........that will just lay dormant until gas prices go up near $4 a gallon again and then it wakes up and makes you very sick. If you get away from that, there are other small cars that get very good mileage. My "road car" is a Ford Fusion Hybrid. It gets about 40 MPG and has MORE trunk space than many SUVs when all seats are occupied. But I vote with the others: Unless and until there is a REASON to trade off the C, then keep it. Unless you can afford to pay cash for a new car........in which case you should just do whatever you WANT to do.
I am going to keep it, not only the MPG but the very low emission levels. I know my luck, if I keep it gas is $2.00 a gallon, trade it and $4.00. as my mom would say "if it rained soup I'd have a knife". LOL
Window tint is only 42%. The rest is plastidip. So if I did trade up, I'd peel it all off... Dealerships don't like that and will drop value. Though, the rear tail lights are the Valenti's.
