If it's just one, it take two minutes to replace the bulb... If it's both of them it takes 3 minutes to replace the fuse...
Ummm, the brake light is an LED cluster, and the official repair is to replace the whole light assembly, as the brake lights are not designed to be user replaced. It is possible to crack open the assembly and replace the LEDs with new ones, if you have a lot of time and are good with a soldering iron and electronics in general.
This is an '05 Prius with mostly light bulbs and OP hasn't even yet indicated if problem is all brake lights or just one? As for official repair... Well, never mind...
Thanks everyone! Sorry I disappeared this thread. I ended up replacing the entire tailight assembly. Working well.
Glad you replied back with an update James. Glad you were able to square this away. Which assembly did you end up with? 1.New oem (online,@dealer) 2.Aftermarket (brand, link, quality) please update in future if possible.... 3.Did you replace just one assembly or both? (driver side or passenger) @James1964 did you ever update your other post regarding the clazzio? If this wasn't you disregard.....
I'll do my best Michael: Replaced only the affected tailight assembly. Bought off Ebay. Chinese made I'm pretty positive. I'll check for the make but it was definitely a lesser quality than OEM. Yes, that was us who did the complete, synthetic leather Clazzio make over! A bear of a job but so worth it. I recently stitched on the leather steering wheel cover too. Wheelskins? Think that's the brand. I recommend that too. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Thanks James Hope it didn't feel like 21 question lol I am currently currently looking into both the clazzio and now the steering wheel cover too!! Thanks for recommending both products...
