Help putting hold release mechanism back in

    My daughter adn I put a stereo in her 2009 Prius and somehow the hood release came apart. I have both plastic pieces and the spring but for the life of me can't figure out how it goes back in. Anyone?

    I took off that lower panel some four or five years ago,,,,,

    IIRC, had to be careful NOT to break the hood release setup.

    Someone else may offer better advice, but I would think you will have to remove the panel to see just what you need to "fix."

    Or not -- hard to tell from your description -- would photos from your end help.

    So, again, not sure it would be helpful, but to take off the panel....

    Take off the vent to the left of the steering wheel by pulling straight out and take out the two Phillips head screws on the lower panel.

    Carefully remove the lower panel -- you will have to unplug some wire harnesses IIRC -- so keep track of what you unplug and how to replug.

    That may reveal what needs attention.
