this is my first post here. I am planning to buy a Prius and I have liked a unit at a local importer's. I live in Bangladesh (South Asia) and Japanese used cars are imported here at large. It's a 2013 Prius probably manufactured in 2012 Q4. The car has run 62000 Kilometers in Japan before being imported here. Since there is no warranty on any component of the car including hybrid battery, I am wondering how many years of good run I can expect out of a unit that is six years old. P.S Cars are expensive here due to high tax imposed. I have talked with Toyota dealer here and replacing a Prius battery pack will cost a hefty sum. Unfortunately hybrids are still new on the roads here and local workshops also charge nearly the same for battery replacement. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
It seems everyone that has never owned a hybrid is worried about the hybrid battery. Truth is most Gen 3 owners have not had any battery failures. Try not to worry about what might happen and enjoy the car.
