2014 prius v with 19000 miles dies after starting. no triangle warning, dealer says nothing wrong; any ideas?
welcome! what is the history of the car? dealer says nothing wrong, even though they couldn't drive it? you're not referring to the engine shutting down are you?
I start the car, put it in reverse, it the backup signal beeped twice then shut down. Did this 3-4 times. So I tried putting it in drive and it did the same thing. It didn't seem to engage the engine or go into gear, and shut down. It's had to been jumped-started a couple of times before but I don't know the details because I just bought it a week ago from the dealer. It was originally bought and serviced at the same place, and when I took it back I saw the service history. They told me diagnostics aren't giving them any readings and therefore nothing's wrong. I got an OBD2 scanner which also shows nothing. This is the second time in a week's time this has happened. New 12v battery was installed in March.Thank you.
i would test the 12v, and make sure all the connections are clean and secure, especially negative to body ground.
when you start it, make sure your foot is firmly on the brake before pushing the power button. it is possible the brake light switch needs adjustment
It is intermittent. Maybe it's the connections. I'm definitely firmly pressing the brake. It's when I take my foot off the brake and press the accelerator after putting it in gear that it shuts down without moving.
when it happens, make sure the 'ready' lights up before putting it in gear. might be worth having the dealer or a local mech check the connections if you can't.
