Description on back of freon can says; Contains 12oz of R-134A ***This can of R134A seems to NOT have oil?
That didn't really answer the question. The question was whether Super Tech refrigerant has oil or not, which is a concern because the Prius cannot use PAG oil but must use ND-11 or be recharged with an oil-free refrigerant can.
The post is edited, and still doesn't ask if it has oil. The original question is what LMGTFY addresses, literally copied and pasted from his post.
I noticed the edit too. @ski.dive I agree with your reading of the label- sure looks like there's no oil in that product.
I just got back from WalMart Super Tech R-134A Freon is available at WALMART for $4.88 ***It is R-134A Freon and it contains NO OIL or other additives=Should be OK for Prius.
If it is any help to you here is the setup I used to add a little Freon to our 2008 Prius when we had it (see the picture below) . I believe it is the same stuff you are asking about. It didn't take much to fill it as the system was in good shape I just topped it off. If your cabin filter is dirty it will make a big difference in air flow when you replace or clean it!
Many late model import cars are super touchy about refrigerant levels. A little under and you only get half the cooling. A little over and the compressor blows up.
Wonderful point about pressures. Just adding refrigerant because you think more will make it cooler is a recipe for disaster. Here is a page from the Prius service manual on what your pressures should be reading
ski.drive I bought it at Walmart also. Our local Walmart had a nice selection. It is made by idQ and cost around $15. The gauge accuracy was comparable to a manifold gauge set and reads from 0 psi to 150 psi. It has red and green zones to help gauge the health of your system. The green section also has a calibration gauge for outside temperature to help you gauge the actual correct pressure of your system.
The only ingredient is R-134a... At only $4.88 for a12oz can, it's a great buy at WalMart for our Prius.
