07 with 207k. About a week ago, ICE at room temp., garage about 90°F, went to ready and the HV bat was at 1 bar. Strange it was about 6 bar when parked. Drove for 60 seconds, and the HV went to green! The event repeated itself over 7-8 days. today, I jumped in to go somewhere and a few seconds the RED triangle appeared. I pulled over, hooked up Torque Pro, and found P0A80 fault set. I cleared it and all things were good. Then came out of the store to go, went to ready, did not attempt to move car, observed HV bar's. It went from 1 bar to green, in about 30 seconds, ICE not running! Does this look like one or more bad modules? Or maybe the HV bat controller messing up? I believe I can take the HV bat apart and replace modules if needed. Any advice would be appreciated.
Summer heat gets another one. You'll need to assess your options. These are listed from least to most both in terms of costs and reliability: repair yourself, get a used rebuilt battery, get new aftermarket modules (cells), or new Toyota battery. Sounds like you're leaning towards the first one. See the link in my signature to see what I did three years ago. GOOD LUCK!
Thanks for the reply and link. I know my back is against the wall, but. Is it reasonable that all 14 blocks would be close to equally low (16.5, 16.5, 16.4, 16.5, etc) and could be caused by 1 or 2 bad modules? Like a weak link in a chain. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link.
My old HV batt is not as bad as yours but starting to see a little of that behavior. I think we can probably go to a kinder and gentler start up by warming up a few minutes, and watching A/C until it warms up.
I got a new Toyota battery from him (Matt) with a 4 yr warranty. This was 2 years ago when my 06 only had about 50k miles; it's up to about 68k now and is about to do a 150 miles per day commute for about 3 weeks. I take comfort in knowing the battery is more than up for the task. OTOH, if I had bought a rebuilt pack 2 years ago...... With your miles, you're probably looking at his rebuilds. I have no experience with them.
The going from 1 bar to green without the engine running sounds a little odd to me. Like it’s more than just old modules odd.
