Just wondering with many Prius owners with 100k,200k miles on their PRIUS, How may PRIUS OWNERS on this web page have had their HV inverter water pump fail? Why the HV inverter recall from Toyota?
Not many, but enough to be memorable. The car protects itself well enough so that the symptom is that it dies while driving for an extended period. Toyota does recalls on things that they deem could fail or have failed more often than they hoped. They do not wait for the government to force them to recall something because it is a danger to human life. Of course if you were one of the few people stranded when the inverter got too hot, it could feel like the end of the world I suppose.
If you were to do a Google search on the subject, you will find several links. Google Here is one that was posted into this forum. There are quite a few locations online concerning folks who have failures on the inverter pump. 2004 Prius - Inverter Pump Failure | PriusChat
