I am replacing existing Rainx wiper blades/arms on my 2006 Prius. Purchased both front blades for about $27 before sales tax (free shipping with Amazon Prime). Hopefully they fit properly. The part numbers are as follows: Left side wiper: Rain-X 5079281-2 Latitude 2-in-1 Water Repellency Wiper Blade - 26-inches Right side wiper: Rain-X 880003 Fusion Wiper Blade - 18"
naah, I have original Toyota OEM wiper blades that are over 30 months old, still going strong. No aftermarket blades have ever lasted this long.
Nope. Consumer Reports says RainX can last up to a year. All other only 6 months. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Purchased the 2006 Prius package#3 in July 2019 with Rainx wipers installed. Thus, I am unable to use Toyota refills. This is my first wiper change since purchase.
Oops, sounds like you do not know how to change wiper blades. You can use any brand -- they all come with adapters to fit your Prius. Many of us choose sizes that are an inch or two larger than the originals. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
How long wiper blades last is STRONGLY dependent on the environment where the car is used. No other factor comes close. Sunlight, ozone, high temperature, low temperature, dust & dirt, chemicals, bugs, birds and a lot more all detract from blade life. Manufacturers and their tame reviewers always over-estimate life for marketing reasons. But they also want you to buy, buy - more, more. Doublespeak. Safety experts would like you to replace them the first time there is a tiny streak or jitter. My personal rule is to replace the blades at least twice per year, based on more than 50 years driving experience. I get the best available quality that I can afford without overpaying for dubious "features" or frills. If a problem appears "early", the blades get replaced early. My feeling is, it is not worth my life to be driving with any degree of obscured vision. As mentioned elsewhere, any brand will fit on any make or model of car. In my opinion there is no good reason to pay dealer prices for something that is basically a commodity. 2004 Prius original owner over 200,000 miles -Graeme- 2004 Prius with >190,000 miles. Sent ?.
I have changed plenty of wiper blades. You do not know me. Yet you desire to pass judgement upon me (namely, "Oops, sounds like you do not know how to change wiper blades."). Best of luck in your future endeavours.
I do a silly thing, I change them based upon when they need to be changed. I know, I should rely on some writer and/or expert in Texas, Florida, New York or Detroit to tell me when to replace them, but I like to live on the edge. But, seriously, I look at them the same time I check my tires (yes, even with TPMS). If they are looking on the edge of shabby, I replace them. I also pay attention to how they are working on the glass. I also clean them every so often. I use NAPA exact fit, basically and they seem to last about two years or possibly a bit longer. Works for me. At least for the past 40 years or so. Funny, same thing with the tires. While I check the pressure, I look for uneven wear, scuffs, etc. Of course, I guess I should look at what those experts recommend for tires too. But as I say, I live on the edge.
Funnily enough, I do the same thing. I don't buy anything fancy, just run-of-the-mill refills. I usually get two to three years out of a set. When I notice any of the blades start to show signs of damage, I buy a set of refills and replace all three blades.
Why then, did you say you can't use factory blades, when you most certainly can? FWIW You are overpaying, too. I never pay more than $10 for the bigger 28" blade ($15 bucks for an oversized set). Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
