I'm picking up a 2020 Prime XLE at the end of this week. I read on other threads that Toyota just uses Gentex ADVGEN40A4 mirrors as "OEM" so I'm considering just doing this one myself. I've seen videos of other Vehicles (such as Nissans) having the connector for the autodimming mirror just sitting up in the ceiling of the car already, behind the map light pop-out, making it fairly plug and play. Is this the case with the 2020 Prime XLE as well? Or am I going to need a wire-tap or something similarly invasive?
You'll need a Prius specific mirror, as it has a longer 'stem' to clear the front camera cover. Can't speak for 2020, but '18 and '19 aren't pre-wired and you have to run wires and tap in.
No reason you can't easily do it. Seriously, it's a two wire hookup. I wouldn't even let a dealer touch it. Refurbished mirrors can be had for 60 bucks easily.
I just bought a part no.: 87810-0WK21 off eBay. Anyone know how to get the auto-dimming to work on a 2018 Prime Base? Curry Toyota parts guy said that there is a harness needed aside from the mirror assembly and the harness is likely not included in a Base/LE Prime. Any suggestions?
