I love my PP and I love the Safety Features included as standard and in my case the optional ones on the Advanced trim level. I know they are expensive to repair after a collision as my car insurance is much much higher for the collision coverage than the car my PP replaced. So be it. Consumer Reports paper edition ran a piece on the cost to repair these safety related components if they fail outside of having an accident and after the warranty runs out. One of the reasons I opted for the Toyota Extended Service Plan (aka Extended Warranty) is to cover things like this. Yikes every one is close to a thousand dollar bill to fix. I included a fair use graphic from the article.
Blind spot Monitoring is “da bomb”. Now that I have it I don’t dread backing out next to high profile vehicle nearly as much as I use to. It’s on my mandatory list for any future vehicle. I just realized I am referring to rear cross traffic monitoring. Hmmm.
our 7 year old bsm goe off when the wind blows, and that's after a $1,200. warranty repair. hopefully, it is improved
I was nervous about getting a car with that stuff. I feel fortunate that our c only has the radar on the nose and the cameras in the windshield. Nothing in the bumper or mirrors. I just don't want expensive hardware in easy-to-damage locations no matter what good they do. These guys get it. Everything below the beltline is dumb cheap plastic. (Most of them don't have those fog lights)
