Motor is off. The console, radio, clock are still on. If you leave the car it beeps like still thinks it is running. Cannot lock the door only with the key but this drains the battery of course. Then no life in the car until you charge the battery.
Put your foot on the brake and press the power button? Do you put the car in park before locking it? The engine should continue to charge all systems when in park. No charge when in neutral. How long have you owned the car?
I can start the car to ready. Drive the car. Put in park. Push power button. Motor goes down and does not start. Tried the gas and heater which usually will start the motor. Console stays on with above symptoms. Did not forget to shut off the car.Not in natural. Have had the car for 13 years. No disrespect but I do know how to shut off the car. I am just lost. I don't think it is the combination meter since when I do start the car I get my panel. speed, ready etc. Could I be wrong? Charged the 12v since it drained and would not start. 100%. battery charge. Tried starting, no problem. Shut down, same problem.
Thank you appreciate the help. Will let you know what the outcome is. Love my car and I know she still has life left in her.
Sorry. No one meant to be condescending. It's just that we get those types of questions a lot from people who really don''t know what they're doing and we have to explain really basic stuff. I guess that's why every time I get in my Prime, the display says, "Put your foot on the brake and press the start button." Duh! Ya think? SO, based on what I've read, I agree that it doesn't seem like the CM. But we do have some experts on that around here like Matt at @Texas Hybrid Batteries who might be able to shed some light on it. Meanwhile, my first instinct would be the power button itself. But reading the codes would also be a good idea in case something shows up there.
When you attempt to turn off the car, does it come out of READY? ok, so what exactly do you do to turn the car off? Do you disconnect the 12v battery? If you disconnect the battery to get the car off, does anything abnormal or unusual happen when you reconnect it?
I found the problem. Parasitic draw. I had a compressor battery charging so I could blow up the tires. The outlets usually shut off with the car. Didn't even think about it. Left in the morning for emergency with low tires and was going to blow them up at my destination after things calmed down.. Only today did I think of it. There is usually always something plugged into the outlet. Is the one inside the console. Disconnected it. Started the car. Shut the car off. Boom all is well. Thank you all. I didn't want to give up on her. She has been a great car and I knew she had more life in her. Again thank you all.
