Hey Prius peeps! During a rare rain storm here in sunny Southern California, my 02 sensor got wet and threw a code. Anything I should worry about? Autozone said it should dry out and be fine. How do I clear the code after?
You should be fine, and it will clear itself. How many miles on the vehicle? What was the code, and which device are you using to read the OBD2 fault codes (DTCs) ?
210k, I forget the code but it was the oxygen sensor, and I used whatever Autozone had, little handheld thing, was blue. I have the same one in my toolbox, got it from Walmart for like $15.
Many scanners used by the auto parts stores won't be hybrid compatible. If there are no lights on the dash you may be golden. Otherwise consider upgrading your tool bag, a cheap bluetooth adapter and an App, or a mini-vci cable and techstream.
I went through a small lake in the road during the rain storms and got the same thing. I just kept resetting the code with my scanner over a few days. It stayed off a little longer each time until it dried out and then stayed off altogether. So It may take a few days to dry out.
SFO I got stung by a non working techstream So what kind of Bluetooth adapter an app would you suggest
Have yet to find or see a non working mini-vci cable. Hybrid battery diagnostic and repair tool for Toyota and Lexus The above link has many of the available adapters listed and rated. The $2 version may be tempting and could work for some applications, but you should go with the best listed that you can afford. None of them will be as effective as a mini-vci cable ($20) and techstream.
