2010 Prius II. I'm looking to change out the little parking lights (next to the headlights) to yellow LED instead of the stock clear/white lights. I think they are called "peanut lights", but I'm not sure. Has anyone else did this? Or maybe another color besides yellow? Thanks!
The forward-facing parking lights? When I had HIDs, I added cool white LEDs to match the headlights. When I switched back to halogens, I changed them back to "high powered" halogen bulbs. (By that I mean, they just burn a bit hotter to produce a light colour closer to the headlights... the stock bulbs are too yellow)
Yes, the little "peanut" light just to the engine side of the main headlights. On the car I just purchased, they are clear/white, just like the headlights. I want to make them a different color. Has anyone done that? If so, can you show a picture of the front of your car with the lights on? Thanks!
All the shots below are with the aftermarket "cool white" LEDs in the forward-facing lights. Here it is with the car on and DRLs, parking lights and fog lights (aftermarket). Here it is with the car off. Parking lights on only. Another angle with the parking lights on and the car off. This one is with the HIDs (low beam) on.
Nice pictures! But what I'm asking if anyone has OTHER colors for those lights. Unless I'm color bling, these pictures show the lights being the same color as the headlights.
Yeah sorry I didn't use yellow or any other colour, just hues of white. So basically I changed it to match my 5000K (You can see the difference in the first picture with the halogen high beam DRLs and the LED parking lights vs. the colour match in subsequent photos). But yes, sorry I didn't answer your question. No, it's not a different colour.
Airplanes have the red navigation light on port wing, green on starboard wing setup + nifty flashing strobe lights on both wings (that were not too expensive to replace, IIRC), so that would be another possibility. Visibility would be very high, but it’s probably illegal in most states. That said, I have seen school buses here in Virginia with roof-mounted strobes, so that might be legal here. Hmmm.
