my 09 prius is troubling me. i was driving and i came to a stop. when it time to move, i pressed the accelerator and i heard a grinding noise coming from left side under hood and car will not move. no power to wheel to move it forward. when i heard the noise, i let off the pedal and it move gradually by itself like 2 to 5 mph till i get it to the side of the road and i turned it off. i let it sit for a bit and i tried to start it again . it started just fine and run fine until i put the car in reverse or drive gear it starts making the grinding/rattling noise. i towed the car home. next day i went to try to start it . all the light comes on but it will not start or go into ready. i check ecu with code reader and there are no codes what could it be. any direction to figure this issue please share your inputs. i hand crank or turn the engine and it turn just fine. there is enough coolant in both reservoir and there is good oil level in engine. thank you
I wonder if it's possible for PriusChat to add some kind of filter activated by the "post new thread" button, that checks for phrases like "there are no codes" and displays a list of existing threads about the importance of getting a code reader that can retrieve the Prius codes?
How is this post different from your other post: 2009 Prius turns on but no start, starting or ready problem?
dolj, sorry for my first answer. yes this post is the same as you referred to. i posted it first and i realized i posted it in the wrong top folder.
update. Mechanic shop said, the aux battery is charged and has above 12 volts. the scanner doesn't show any code but it says battery low voltage and battery air. now looking to find a way to charge the big hybrid battery but what could be a cause for the hybrid batter not to charge or drain?
are you reading and following the advice above, or just posting every time something new occurs? 'above 12 volts' is not a verification of a good battery. what scanner are they using? do you need a hybrid aware mechanic?
