09 prius turns on but no start or go into ready

    the transmission is bad. the shop is replacing the transmission and shift assist motor.

    Ouch!!

    Shift assist motor? Do they mean the parking pawl motor? There is no shifting that happens in a Prius transaxle.

    That sounds simple in concept but laborious in execution! :eek: It's essentially just a splined coupling combined with a shock absorbing clutch plate. If those splines stripped, that would definitely disconnect the engine from the transaxle.
