Gen 2 swap Type II for Type III Hatch lock

    I recently bought my first Prius. I got a 2010 Prius with the Type II trim.

    Type II trim does not have have the second button to lock the car on the rear hatch.

    I'd like to swap the rear hatch lock pad from a junked Type III. Does anyone know if the wiring harness will allow this or is my car forever a Type II?

    It depends on if the programming for that switch already exists in your system... I haven't worked on this one yet, but hopefully others who have will speak up.

    Unfortunately it is not going to work that easy. You have to install also a rear antenna and do quite a lot of wiring. If you willing to go that far there is a topic explaining in detail the steps for adding keyless entry to the rear and also the passenger door.
