Just got this e-mail message from my local Nissan dealer. As part of their effort to accelerate electric vehicle transportation alternatives throughout the US, Nissan North America is offering AEP Ohio customers an incentive offer toward the purchase of a new 100% electric Nissan LEAF. Eligible customers can receive up to $6,000 cash back on the purchase of a 2020 Nissan LEAF or LEAF PLUS. You may also qualify for up to $7,500 in Federal tax credit! That's up to $13,500 in potential total savings! Prices start at $31,600 to $40,000 and the Leaf has a 40kw battery and range of 149 miles and Leaf Plus has a 62 kw battery and a range of 226 miles. I don't know if you get the full $6,000 on the less expensive ones. A Leaf wouldn't be my first choice for an EV but $13,500 makes it tempting to give up the Prius but then we are back into payments again. Have any other localities seen offers like this?
If you check the Nissan Leaf site. The $6000 cashback is from Nissan and not specific to any state or any specific utility customer. 2020 Nissan LEAF | 100% Electric | Lease Offers & Incentives
Nissan is feeling the other manufacturer's pressure because they are building better cars with liquid-cooled traction packs that are much less prone to loose capacity quickly. Unregulated heat is the enemy of traction pack longevity. You get what you pay for, even when you get it for $6000 less. .
Nissan upped the ante and added another $1000 on top of $6000 recently. I am really thinking of trading my 2020 PP comes 2021, if a similar offer is available after 1/1/2021.
