2005 Prius bad EGR valve?

Patrick, thank you so much for that explanation. I had read a little about the atkinson cycle, it helps to see it in practice.

And the pcv has not been replaced that I know of, so I'll try to replace that today!

How strange that they wouldn't include a hole for the pin to lock in, but would still include the pin and the spring.

It's true that I don't remember seeing any mention of the compressed-air unlock-the-pin business in my Gen 1 manual. I noticed it in the Gen 3 (2ZR) manual and thought, huh. what's that about?

 

Yeah it is really weird that everything is there except the pin! I was pretty worried about the whole thing rotating. But glad to at least have cleared up the confusion. I wonder why they skipped that system on the genII.
