Hello guys, P0456 has been an ongoing issue in my brothers Prius C. So far I have replaced the fuel cap, purge valve, and charcoal canister. Still no luck with clearing the code. Just last night I replaced the fuel tank and filler neck. The car is right at 50k miles, anybody else experience similar issues? I ran a smoke test prior to this and saw very little smoke coming from the rear. I’m hoping this will solve my issue. I’ve driven the car 15 miles, at how many miles will the check engine light come back on? I’ve never owned a Prius but man has it been a pain. Here’s a pic. Took 2-3 hrs.
Yea... The Prius C is designed to be much smaller than a regular Prius so they're harder to work on as far as I'm concerned... Though when it comes to cleaning, there's alot less to clean.
And you did that based on a wild guess ?? Sounds to me like a BAD idea but I hope it works out for you. The light might come back on a few hours to a few weeks later if there still is a problem.
What does a "smoke test" have to do with the post that you replied to ? And how are we supposed to know what your "smoke test" actually tested ??
If you haven’t already, I’d suggest reviewing the “EVAP System” topic in the Repair Manual (more info), which provides a Confirmation Driving Pattern that you may need to follow to clear the trouble code, and a 52-step diagnostic procedure. To do that procedure, you may need a Toyota Techstream diagnostic system, so you can use the Evaporative System Check utility function, in both automatic and manual modes.
I’m not sure what you are arguing here. I replied saying I ran a smoke test when you stated “I replaced my filler neck and tank based of a wild guess”. If you don’t know what a smoke test will do then I can’t help you there bud, my check engine light is completely gone now. Have a nice day.
