I'm a new owner and new member. Just got a 2006 Prius a few weeks ago and am very happy with it. Bought it from Michael at Earl Stewart Toyota in Florida and had it shipped to Wisconsin. Purchase experience was great and Michael got the deal done in time for the full tax credit and I got the car right away. So far I've put about 2,000 miles on it and, according to the computer, I have been averaging around 48 mpg without really trying to be conservative. Wow! Gotta love it when compared to my Excursion with a PowerStroke diesel. I guess I have both ends of the fuel economy spectrum covered now...Excursion diesel on one end and Prius Hybrid on the other. I need the big rig for hauling/towing but there is nothing like almost 50 mpg in the Prius vs 15-20 mpg in the Excursion. I love filling up the Prius for $20 bucks vs around $100 for the Excursion! They look kind of funny parked next to each other though. I guess I could put the Prius in the back cargo area of the Excursion if it ever wanted to really go off-road. I have been adding some mods to it since, checking out all of the info, and appreciate all of the great insight on this forum...it beats recreating the wheel. Thanks! B)
Congrats on your Prius! I've had mine since April, and am just shy of 5000 miles. It's SO much fine to drive, and I'm on my 11th tank of gas in 6 months. So what kind of mods have you done? I've added a lot of accessories, not really 'mods'. The thought of you taking your Prius off-roading in your Excursion makes me laugh!
Congratulations on your new Prius!! It sounds like you are alrready enjoying it very much! I think you should take a picture if the Excursion and Prius side by side. There was a very funny video made to add some tough to the Prius Image. Check it out. It might frighten the pants off your Excursion! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tI03cMo0e_w...ted&search= Enjoy!
I've had my '06 for about 3 months now and I still love it!!! I really do seem to learn something new about this car everyday. The Xterra I traded in for the Prius averaged between 14-18 miles per gallon on a tank. Actually on one of the last tanks is when I got the 14 mpg average, and that convinced me to go ahead and order the Prius. Even here in the Mountains we've averaged 47.6 mpg. Not bad for mountain driving in my opinion. I've added mud flaps, all weather floor mats, the front windshield sun shade from PriusChat, and a Belkin cup holder to hold my Mp3 player and/or my PDA (and of course the cable to connect to the Mp3 audio in). We do have a four wheel drive truck though. Actually bought it the day after we got the Prius. Its '06 Nissan Frontier, rated at 18-22 mpg, although i'm sure that was NOT in 4 wheel in the snow, but up here ya gotta have a truck, and ya gotta have 4WD, or plan on at least 2 weeks during the winter of not being able to get to work. What accessories have you added?
Congrats !!! I have had my Prius exactly one year this week. 12,000 miles on it. I still love to get in it and drive. Gave up a 4 wheel drive Ford pick-up and don't miss it at all. I don't think I will ever want to own a regular car again. Welcome to the group...enjoy the ride.
Thanks for all the congrats... I do like the car and the forum. I've already added the protective film to the headlights, window tinting including windshield strip, mud flaps, side window deflectors, hood for the display, and the weathertech floor and cargo mats. I just ordered a bra for the front from Colgan. I read all about the poor fit because of the new/different front end of the 2006 vs the 2004/2005 model but they say they know about this and promise it will fit right. The only downside is they say it will take 3-4 weeks to deliver. I will play it safe and keep it parked inside of the back of the Excursion until then. I'll work on some side-by-side pics and reply once I get them.
