So I was kinda making the leap into the Ecopias but found four variants. Not sure if there's a specific one preferred or if people are even aware of the one they're buying. Based on this list below, I'm leaning towards the 3rd one, the 91S variant as it supposedly is a pound lighter and has the smallest tread width so figure it has a smaller contact PATCH. However, the last one from Mexico has the lowest wear rating but a higher max psi, so sidewall is softer and more comfortable maybe? Maybe that's why the reviews here of the Ecopias vary as there are different kinds and maybe some are noisier or perform worse than others. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
you're probably thinking too much about it. I see the country of origin are different and aside from that the only other differences are the speed rating and load rating. You probably aren't going to find a store that stocks the 3rd one since its made in Japan while the first one that is very similar is made is USA. IMO probably just go with what the store has in stock, they look similar.
These are all in stock and ready to ship from tirerack. Was going to place an order but wasn't sure which would be better and whatever everyone else uses (if they're even aware) Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Firstly - eliminate thinking about "higher max psi". It's totally irrelevant to all intents and purposes.
So I have the Ecopias on my Prime as standard equipment. If you toggle the selections on tire rack it shows this one as the standard Ecopia that was installed oem- (see pic) Hope this helps
I think Bridgestone has made a serious mis-step, with the multitude of Ecopia EP422 iterations*. Anyone remember the EP20 btw? Seems (sadly) they're being phased out, judging by tirerack. * Reminds me of: Casino Royale (1967 film) - Wikipedia
