Three speed sensor codes at the same time?

In my experience, water intrusion into the wheel speed sensor connectors. Remove, dry/clean with compressed air, then use some dielectric grease, and replace. Should clear the issue.

 

It isn't odd when you reflect that some codes are telling you about some condition, and some others are telling you about something that results from the condition.

For example, there are four wheel speed sensors, and they are connected to the brake/skid ECU, and that ECU is tasked with summarizing those four wheel speed signals into a "vehicle speed signal" that it passes on to other ECUs in the car.

The C1541 is a code from the steering ECU, saying "hmm, didn't get a vehicle speed signal update from the brake/skid ECU in the last 3 seconds." So if the brake/skid ECU is trying to figure out what to make of two bogus wheel speed inputs, it's not astonishing that some other ECU in the car that subscribes to the vehicle speed signal might also set a trouble code.

I don't have a 2012 v repair manual, so I can't look up the exact detection conditions for your C1464 and C1466 codes (they must have been invented after my 2010 liftback manual). But often looking up the exact detection condition for the code tells you a lot about why it might have been set.

 

Hello- I have a similar issue in my Prius V. The right front and rear codes C1464 and C1466 are showing on Techstream. I did a test drive and both right wheels read 0 mph. I took the tires off and looked at wires and connections on both and they seem perfectly fine. It doesn't seem likely that both hubs would go bad, so I am assuming it is something electrical or with the actuator?? I check the fuses (at least the ones I could identify) and they were fine. I tried tracking the wires but lose them when they go under an engine shield.

Any suggestions on how to further diagnose the problem?

 

Open, clean, dielectric grease, and replace the connectors between VSS pigtail and vehicle harness. Report back.

 

Thank you for the suggestion, much appreciated. I know how and where the connectors are to the wheel unit, but where is the VSS pigtail and vehicle harness? Are they under the car, in the wheel well area, or in the engine compartment?

Still have the same problem. I put in new speed sensor harnesses on both the right front and rear of the car and no luck. I am still getting no speed or acceleration on both right side wheels when I do a test drive with techstream running.

Any suggestions on what I should try next before I give up and take it to a mechanic?

What you really need is the answer for your car, whether or not it turns out to be the same as what the answer was for somebody else's car.

It's best to start by posting exactly which diagnostic codes your car is giving you.

The details on what sets those codes, and how to troubleshoot them, are in your repair manual (more info). To see what exactly sets each code, look in the box that says "DTC detection condition" on the first workup page for each code.

Sometimes people will find an easy solution doing something simple and cheap like cleaning or greasing the electrical connector. That won't turn out to be the problem for everybody though. Another "easy" thing to try is just replacing the sensor or hub. I put that "easy" in quotes because the sensors/hubs aren't cheap, and the replacement can be a bear of a job, at least if you're in a location that uses road salt. But it's "easy" in the sense of being something you can try without having to think much.

But sometimes you will try the easy things and even the "easy" things and still have the problem, and those are the times you really just have to pick up a multimeter and follow the troubleshooting steps in the repair manual, and when you find where the problem actually is, then fix that.

That approach might not sound as easy, but in fact, if you start with it, it could be the straightest path to a successful outcome.
