I purchased a 2006 Gen2 Prius a couple months ago with both batteries dead (high voltage and 12V). Got a pretty good deal. Once I got the car running (after replacing both batteries), I got a P1121 code calling for replacement of the Coolant Flow Control Valve ("CFCV"). After CFCV got changed, I then went through the issues surrounding bleeding the ICE cooling system. OK so the car is now up and running. And, quickly becoming my favorite. However, I have additional issues to get resolved. One of those issues is what package do I have in the car. Downloaded the 2006 Prius brochure at the following website: http://www.auto-brochures.com/makes/Toyota/Prius/Toyota_US%20Prius_2006.pdf I am having difficulty determining what package I have. I am hoping that some of the group can help me decode what package I have (and what modifications/upgrades after purchase occurred). Couple questions as follows: 1. Can I determine package number by VIN? 2. What package do I have with the following equipment in the car: a.) aux port in console; b.) leather seats; c.) radio with CD/AUX button (but no JBL label on the front of the radio); d.) backup camera; and e.) Smart key system (AKA "SKS"). *- I see no bluetooth link or access. There are four ("4") buttons surrounding the information screen as follows: i. "climate", ii. "audio", iii. "display", and iv. "info". My goal is to get the bluetooth working if it is already installed in the car.
Your link (URL: https:// www. toyota. com/ owners/ my-vehicle/ vehicle-specification) was very helpful. I was able to insert my VIN and confirm the car's original specifications as follows: 1. My car was originally a package#3 car ; 2. Fabric seats were installed at factory and have been upgraded to factory leather seats; and 3. Alloy wheels have been downgraded to steel wheels with hubcaps. Thus, I have an AUX port but no bluetooth (as you would expect with a package #3).
Not 100% but pretty sure zero gen 2s have "bluetooth". I think you can connect your cell phone which is pretty pointless but you cannot connect any audio via bluetooth...Might be wrong I am not very "tech savvy"
According to the 2006 Prius sales brochure packages 5,6, 7 &8 have Bluetooth. See pic of excerpt from the 2006 brochure. The brochure can be found at page 6 of http://www.auto-brochures.com/makes/Toyota/Prius/Toyota_US%20Prius_2006.pdf My Gen2 is stage 3 (with upgrade to stage 8 leather seats by one of the prior owners).
The point you made (namely, the 2006 bluetooth function may have only been functional for telephone calls and NOT audio) is a good one. However, that is not my issue as I have a stage #3 (which came without bluetooth).
I have 2 2006 Prius. One red package 6 and one green package 7. Both have Bluetooth and as mentioned play only phone calls and voice directions from waze or google navigation. They do not play music thru Bluetooth.
The Aston SoundTek A1+ sounds like exactly what I am looking for. Many thanks for the recommendation.
I have used the aux port in the center console forward bulkhead next to 12v outlet for audio thru the stereo using iPad or handheld mp3 player, but I didn't like the wire coming out of the center console. Oh well so now we only listen to the radio..
