Sorry if this has been asked before, searched the forum and have read threads for the past couple hours with no success. I have an 02 Gen 1 that most likely needs hybrid battery cells replaced (from what I have gathered from other posts here). Replaced the 12v with an Optima but did nothing. Tried to use a miniVCI with techstream but just couldn't figure it out and was getting really frustrated. Would like to just pay somebody to do it at this point but can't seem to find anybody through Googling and emailing in the Twin Cities, MN area that will work on it (Hybrid Hero doesn't do Gen 1s). Does anybody have somebody they recommend? IF an auto shop does say they work on hybrid batteries it's only to replace it with a new one for $4K+, at least the ones I have talked to thus far. Thanks all for the help!
Welcome to Prius chat. @strawbrad is in your neck of the woods and can probably assist. Good luck and keep us posted.
Gen 1 Prius and the Mini VCI readers generally do not play well together. I have had good results using a Tactrix 2.0 reader and an old (7.XXX) version of Techstream. Maybe I need to talk with my web guy. My phone number is included in the bottom of every post. That's the best way to contact me. Brad
It's always great to see when the web ends up doing something other than being a platform for viral MIS-information. The kind of connection/help in this thread isn't what the web was "made for." But it does represent the best of what it can do. Strangers randomly helping strangers with info exchange.
We also sometimes get the opportunity to meet others with similar interests in our local area. Or sometimes when we are in other geographic areas and have made connections . Will be nice when we can get back to that at some point .
