I think their problem was twofold. First, the announcement came from seemingly legitimate sources & didn’t come on April 1st. Second, the messaging trying to walk it back was disjointed with some parts of the company reinforcing the original statement, while others said the original statement was a joke.
SEC must not have anything better to do Who cares comes to mind I would argue if investors put credence in a name they deserve to be drug out in the street and shot, if they survive shoot them again
The other way to look at it is, that since SEC came down on Elon Musk for saying Tesla may go private .... SEC needs to prove they didn't hammer on him capriciously. .
