I own a 2018 Prius V (Canada-only release) which is basically identical to the 2017 Prius V. I've been hearing all sorts of talk from 3rd gen owners about the importance of an oil catch can. Does the 4th gen need this? Any other "must-knows" about 4th gen Prius or is it an overall improvement over previous gen?
Are you thinking of upgrading? Your Prius v uses the same engine tuning as the Gen 3 Prius, not a Gen 4.
Here’s the go to thread: Oil Catch Can, Eliminate that knock! | PriusChat and yeah, your engine and periferals are essentially like 3rd gen Prius, so could benefit.
Well where is your EGR valve located? It's either under the hood Gen 3 or by the cat and water cooled Gen 4.
I put an oil catch can on our 2019 Prime (Gen4 underpinnings): What did you do to your Prime today? I've caught about 5 ounces in the 20k miles it has been installed. And that's at 33% HV. So a catch can on a gen4 does catch material. The catch can works.
