I've noticed after driving on long trips that my oil cap has a oily film on it. Its just the cap ...nothing else has oil on it. I wipe it dry but after a few weeks it comes back. Ive Google and searched but to no avail. Anyone have any suggestions or has had the same problem? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Inside the cap or outside the cap? I used Blue Devil Pour and Go and the oil cap on the car started leaking. It leaked out the seal. The Blue Devil warped the seal. I replaced the oil and cap and no more leaking out….
Please clarify if you're talking about outside of cap or inside of cap? And if outside of cap any visible damage to the seal?
A 9-year old car? Yep, there's a rubber seal inside of the oil filler cap you can replace for about $6. (I just did in my Tundra) For Prius, should be part # 90080-43025. When you replace it, the new one will have one smooth side and one side with a thin, raised edge...this is the outside edge, that seals it to the car.
I tried 3 different Toyota dealerships, and even online. No one had that seal. They all said you can only get the cap with the seal. But since the cap was only $10, I think it was worth it.
You're not using a stop leak nor high mileage oil are you? Should be warrantable within a year? (Take it in and get a free replacement)... Our Porsche cap is okay with Lucas version but absolutely not Blue Devil... moto g(7) power ?
Please specify which oil you are using? If I'm not mistaken Toyota recommends ILSAC rated oils and for some reason some high mileage oils aren't ILSAC rated. Change the oil to a different high mileage, and the cap, then observe. moto g(7) power ?
