Hello I became a prius owner last year and I love my boy but he’s a bit older now. Sorry in advance for my lack of car knowledge.Does anybody know what this part is? At low speeds or when the engine comes on at idle it vibrates and thus making a rattling sound when it hits the other piece. Looks like it needs to be replaced since it’s all rusty but I like to know what things are before heading to the mechanic. Tysm in advance
That looks like a photo of a hanger for the front exhaust pipe. But there's nothing wrong with the rubber hanger itself, but rather with the pin that's supposed to hang from it, which was originally a welded part on the side of the pipe. See the parts labeled ① here: Toyota would fix it by replacing the front pipe (that whole thing in the box labeled 17410), but if your catalytic converters are still performing ok, maybe an exhaust shop can find a cheaper way to fix that.
