Hi I'm a new UK member but I don't own a Prius at present. Can I ask the following couple of questions. Is the Prius Thermos Coolant heat saving feature standard on UK vehicles? If it is, does anyone know where in UK I can get one (The Thermos) from a crashed/salvage vehicle. If it's not a UK feature I might be willing to consider getting one from US/Canada or wherever they are a standard fitting. Can a kind US/Canada member help me with this? Thanks for your help. I have searched the forum and found some useful diagrams which describe the system, but I haven't found the answers to my specific questions. Some members might find my site interesting at www.solarvan.co.uk. Peter

The bladder for sure, the thermos, I could be wrong. If you import, you'll have to change the lights as our lights will blind oncoming drivers on your side of the pond. Also, if you get HIDs (from the US), you'll need headlight washers so it's probably best not to get HIDs as it's not worth the hassle. Lastly, we don't have rear foglights.
 Just curious. Can't imagine why someone would want the "Thermos" only for a Prius. It's part of a system including a pump and interconnection with the ICE cooling system. It's difficult to see how it could be useful in a "non-Prius" application.

Hi Thanks for the interest. I know this may sound strange but I want to use the coolant heat save feature on another vehicle. The Thermos is the most difficult part to source, I can sort the rest. So I want to use it exactly for what it was designed for, to store hot coolant on another vehicle. I am not looking for a complete vehicle. So I'm still looking for the Thermos, Please!!! Thanks Peter UK
If you know what it looks like, you might want to check with the ebay seller mentioned in this thread: http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=2...mp;#entry342469 if you read the thread, you'll see that he doesn't know what he has on hand and is pretty much making up names for stuff and trying to sell it - so it's entirely possible you can find what you need under the correct name, or a different one. good luck!
I've been wondering if a failure of the coolant system pump/thermos can cause a non-start condition...? I'm assuming some sort of warning light would come on, right? Wondering also what tells the car that the pumping operation is complete...is there a level sensor, or does the pump run for a certain amount of time?
If I remember correctly, there were some with the EV switch that wanted to keep the thermos pump off until the engine would start up, but I don't think they were able to get that working. I don't know if the car did the error code and wouldn't go to Ready mode, or if it was just the situation that delaying the pump was too difficult, but I seriously doubt some of the experts here would have trouble doing that. Hopefully somebody who is an expert will supply the information. I don't see why the car shouldn't run without that system.
