2010 prius check hybrid system getting this on dashboard disconnected both HV and 12V batteries and connected will update on this issue from mechanic
did they give you the trouble codes? how many miles on her? edit: just saw your pic, is that tech stream? is it a hybrid specialist?
180k miles mechanic used tablet for codes as in picture name, found him from classifieds ads in this big city (Texas) maybe its drprius app or there are other apps professionals use ? He also used a red device towards end of repair to clear abs light So i have to see if abs light will come back on later Main issue as per him is bad inverter and after replacement its in ready mode good
getting all the lights again and engine has rattling sound ,little cold outside ,but does go into ready mode later will ask technician to check obd codes clear and his inverter replacement solved code p0a94 or another issue these are exact ones before would get check hybrid no ready ,now can get ready but same lights these went away after a while ,checked twice same briefly see them but after a little bit they went away and could drive
mechanic said its not egr problem and didnt want to look after p0300 code, hes not willing to check other issues
day 2 update "p0300 random multiple cylinder misfire detected " update from mechanic ,suggested to do blue devil procedure or replace engine, he was not willing to look at egr if finding another mechanic whos willing to check egr can improve or replace engine is the only option ? from below it looks like temporary fix or it could make it worse Gen 2 Blown Head Gasket; Seal it with Blue Devil? | PriusChat
Fire your mechanic and buy a Carista OBD2 adapter. Then download the Dr. Prius app for free. The app will give you more prius codes than your mechanics.
NEVER NEVER EVER use any "sealant"!!!! It only causes more headaches and does NOT fix the problem. IF you have a blown head gasket, you need to replace it, or have it replaced. If that clown won't even look at the egr circuit, find someone who will. Perhaps it's time to learn how to do the work???
Yeah turf that mechanic out. If you've got code p03xx, and 177K miles (apologies for not seeing your earlier mention of miles), you've very likely got a failing head gasket, and likely due to a carbon-bunged EGR system, including EGR passages in the intake manifold. Finding another mechanic, capable of a leak-down test to determine head gasket condition, would be my next step. If it does turn out to be a failing head gasket, and you follow through by replacing it, get the EGR system cleanined directly thereafter, to avoid a repeat. More info in my signature.
Update New mechanic did another diagnos got p0301 Replaced 4xsparks and 1st cylinder coil After other tests confirmed head gasket is ok , maybe also confirmed tests no egr issue as but didn't get to open egr ,time was short But car still rumble on startup and same problem Getting new codes to replace coils 1 2 3 4 cylinder s ,only coil 1 was replaced P0351 p0352 p0353 p0354 Odd the rumbling is bad than before but only during startup codes all changing Also was told could be clogged catalytic And to Try lucas cylinder lubricant , guaranteed to pass additives into fuel tank and run till empty Techron looks recommended here in forums Car runs ok after rumbling startup, haven't gone on highway to check if spees ok to 60mph Trying to see if really coils were bad or other issue Or the tsb of shaking on startup of 2010 prius but this is >150k miles so may not apply Any other things to check
Mechanic tried to do hard reset removing both terminals of 12v batt with jumper cables but stopped as not sure how prius electric would behave Is hard reset to clear all codes ok on prius
EGR never been cleaned, 180K miles, P0301? It doesn't take Sherlock Holmes: I think you'll find carbon-bunged EGR, and head gasket leaking coolant into cylinder one.
