I need some help and suggestions for our 2007 Prius. It has 90,000 miles that have been trouble free. I'm experiencing my first breakdown. It started with the "death" of the 12v optima yellow battery after 10 years. I have replaced the 12v battery and still have problems. After replacing the battery, it started several times with no power and would die. There was a clattering from driver side of the engine compartment. The check engine light is on. Now the little 1.5l motor won't start. I pulled codes getting the following: Engine & ECT ~ P3190 (Poor Engine Power) ABS/VSC/TRC ~ C1241 & C1378 HYBRID CONTROL ~ POAOF I'm at a loss! Suggestions? Could it be the inverter module?
12v battery lasted 10 years? That’s a new record. did the car run at all after you replaced the battery?
Clean the throttle body interior surfaces and the MAF. The MAF sensor will need to be removed from the TB housing in order to access the sensor wires. The part you see in the open is the temperature sensing bulb, not the heated MAF wires. (I learned hard way, lol) Failure to start happens sometimes after replacing the 12v battery, especially if 12v power was lost to the car while doing the replacement. There are some components on the car that have vales that are 'learned' and adjusted by the ecu over time. This includes throttle plate position in the throttle body. The position of the throttle blade changes slightly over the years due to carbon buildup, etc but has no real effect because the car is continually 'learning' the new position. Kill 12v and the ecu goes back to the original default values from when new, which may be way different from what the true 'current' position really is. This can prevent the car from starting. Clean the snot out of the TB and MAF to get these back to as near 'new' as possible so the actual position will be closer to the 'default' values now in the ecu. Welcome to PriusChat!! As @TMR-JWAP kindly mentioned above, first try cleaning the MAF sensor, butterfly valve and throttle body of existing build up. DTC P0A0F has five (5) subcodes (they may help diagnose), which OBD2 scanner are you using that isn't offering the INFs (subcodes)?
