So does this mean that you have to believe in God and like football to suceed in politics? Evidently, even that is not enough.

They'd all be appalled if they realized that he too, like a lot of his ilk, was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and most of his "Southern" charm is affected. He wasn't raised in the South at all but in California. He adopted Virginia as his home state when he went to UVA. I have no problem with that, btw, I just hate how he turned on this ol' boy act to get votes. Thanks heavens it stopped working.
