I just purchased a 2004 Prius 2. It has 136,000 all original miles. The pros: 3rd owner. Two previous owner went to Toyota for service. Has been recently passed full service inspection by Toyota. Interior and exterior in great shape no signs of bad wear and tare for a work car. New 12v battery Hybrid Battery is still solid per previous owner. Price was $3,100 The negatives: Cat was cut out. Need replaced. $130ish ABS Actuator is failing. Running every 15 seconds. ( I found a used abs actautor pulled for $240ish) I will replace this myself. Youtube videos look like it isn't that bad of a job. No radio How did I do? It is my first Prius and I am using it as a work car/weekend trip car. I hope for $800 I can get this baby on the road.
All used car prices are relatively high now. IOW, you likely paid more than you would have paid 2 1/2 years ago.
At that price your risk of loss is low even if the car is a disaster. Prices for these are insane now so if you’re a DIY type, which you seem to be, you should be fine even if you find other issues. Use of Toyota service and clean interior implies the prior owner tried to take care of it which is very important. Check HV battery with Dr Prius.
