Hello, Any recommendations on who to use for hosting a website. Please reccommend based on the assumption it is for a person who has never made or operated a webpage.
No specific recommendations for you, but now a days they'll all pretty much offer the same basic set of services: Certain code abilities (like PHP, .NET, etc... you'll want to look for one in the language you know). mySQL database access Generally speaking, they'll all give you access to modify settings (like password protecting directories, etc) through a web interface. They'll also almost all work through FTP access when you want to update pages. Other than that, the only real difference is the frills you get - storage space, bandwidth allocation, e-mail addresses - and the price you pay. Since they all are so similar, you need to fill in the gaps before someone can really make a decent recommendation.
That sounds encouraging. I just want to be able to control my site. No ads unless I want, no hassels and an easy to use all around, I don't know any computer code.
A really basic one that doesn't require HTML is godaddy.com I once used this service to create a website with an online catalog and shopping cart. Point and click style software. They have fair prices, but many people complain about the amount of advertisements (not sure what kind of advertisements they are complaining about).
I host my sites off Godaddy. Things got cheaper when I called them on the phone to place the order. I find my bag of goodies pretty simple to work with.
